Leisure & Shopping in and around Sotogrande


Grocery Stores

There are three larger supermarkets in Sotogrande:

  1. El Corte Inglés Supermercado: This is the most exclusive option with parking lots outside and a large basement parking garage.
  2. Mercadona, right next to El Corte Inglés: This is a less exclusive but highly recommended supermarket with a large basement parking garage.
  3. Lidl: On the other side of the highway, you'll find Lidl with good parking facilities.

Note: During high season (July/August), the parking garages of Mercadona and El Corte Inglés can become extremely crowded. It's quieter if you visit early in the morning (9 am), between 3 pm and 5 pm, or close to closing time (9 pm) in the afternoon.
Further towards Algeciras, you'll find a large Carrefour supermarket.

Sotomarket

In the passageway between the El Corte Inglés supermarket and Mercadona  Bulevar Centro Comercial Sotomarket you will find:

Cash Machines

In Pueblo Nuevo, there are several cash machines along the road parallel to the highway. El Corte Inglés supermarket in Sotogrande also has a cash machine inside the building. Additionally, there are four more cash machines in the port of Sotogrande, one at the terrace of KE.

Please note that cash withdrawal fees apply. Avoid all ATM machines that charge nearly 4 Euros!

Restaurants

  • Foodisiac: A delightful option for breakfast, lunch, and dinner in the port of Sotogrande. They also offer croissants to go. Highly recommended for those who love tasty and healthy food, as well as the best croissants in Sotogrande!
  • Ke: A visit to Sotogrande port isn't complete without enjoying coffee, breakfast, lunch, dinner, or cocktails at Ke, the place where everyone goes.
  • Cancha II: An Argentine restaurant for lunch and dinner at the beautiful Ayala Polo Club. Reservations are recommended. Limited vegetarian options.
  • Trocadero: Beach club restaurant with the best view on Gibraltar and Morocco's coastline. Reserve for a seaside table!
  • Lombardo’s: Closer to Valgrande, you'll find a nice Italian restaurant in the center of Paniagua with a cozy patio terrace and takeout options. Highly recommended, especially for families.
  • In the center of Paniagua, there is a coffee bar serving breakfast and sweet snacks, enjoying the morning sun.
  • Midas: Located in the Port of Sotogrande, inside the "Messi" hotel, Midas offers a beautiful view of the port. Limited vegetarian options are available.
  • La Crep: A delicious pancake restaurant (with other menu choices) in the port of Sotogrande. Highly recommended for families, with a lovely view of the port, surrounded by nice shops and a recreation area for children.
  • D'alicia: Delicious breakfast and lunch, good coffee and a bakery.

There are many more restaurant options to choose from in the center of Sotogrande port. Additionally, around the corner from the Sotogrande port center, at Ribera de Merlin, there's a great selection of food and drink places.

  • Heading towards Alcaidesa you have a new and very good restaurant at La hacienda Golf resort Sal Verde Restaurante with stunning views of the mediterrenean sea.
  • Also towards Alcaidesa if you are into Thai kitchen, you can eat delicious at La finca Thai fusion
  • For something more exclusive, consider the restaurants at Finca Cortesín. This highly exclusive hotel offers three upscale dining options. Reservations are required.
  • A recently discovered gem is Restaurant Sarmiento in the hills of the white village Casares, winner of the 2023 Andalucía Gastronomic Award. Make a reservation for the terrace to enjoy stunning views on the Natural Park of Bermeja Mountain Range.

Beach Clubs

  • Trocadero Beach Club: A delightful beach club featuring a dedicated kids' area with lifeguards. Dogs are welcome on leashes. The club boasts a spacious, beautiful pool, an excellent restaurant, and direct access to the beach.
  • The Beach (part of La Reserva): An artificial lake next to La Reserva Golf Club. It's an exclusive beach club with various leisure options and a restaurant.

  • In Sotogrande, you can find a large variety of sports facilities, including:

  • Yoga: a new studio opened in Paniagua, Origen Escuela de Yoga. Classes are in Spanish, you just copy and paste :-) . Very much recommandable!
  • For (Kite)Surfing, wind paradise Tarifa is only a 45-minute drive away.

Polo

Around the high season period, several Polo championships take place. You can visit these matches for free. Announcements of matches are posted on signs close to the Sotogrande security gate entrances. Enjoy the play, meet new people, and have a snack and a drink. It makes you feel like if you are in Argentina!
